Age-Friendly Elections: Meet the Experts

The OSCC55+ is excited to welcome Ontario Tech University for “Is the Candidate Knocking on My Door Age-Friendly?” This free community event is an opportunity to connect with experts from Ontario Tech and explore key issues related to the upcoming municipal elections, including what makes a community age-friendly.

Join us for a thoughtfully planned series of expert-led conversations.

The event will begin with Dr. Shilpa Dogra from Ontario Tech’s Faculty of Health Sciences, who will provide context on what an age-friendly city is and highlight the commitments local municipalities and the Region of Durham have made toward becoming more age-friendly. Colleagues from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities will then speak about municipal mandates and jurisdiction, with insights into current issues such as housing, communications, long-term care, and more. The panel will also include time for audience questions, encouraging open dialogue and helping participants make an informed decision this fall.
