Please note:

  • Online courses will be held for a 6 week session beginning the week of September 21.
  • OSCC55+ current membership is required to register for online courses. Memberships can be purchased online via Register Now!
  • Online recreation programs will continue to be free and open for all via the online programs page as we transition to in branch recreation programs
  • You must register for online continuing education programs via Register Now!
  • September Special: If you register for 2 or more online fitness courses, you will receive a free resistance band*!

You can participate in a variety of OSCC55+ programs using Zoom. See information below for dates and times of your favourite programs. All online programs are approximately one hour in length. At the beginning of the class time, click the corresponding link. The link automatically enters you into the class! For registered online courses beginning the week of September 21, the OSCC55+ staff team will contact all those preregistered by email to provide a custom url to access the course.

Drawn from therapeutic roots, Pilates adapts to any and all body issues and aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility. This class is done entirely on mats. Totem Poles document stories, they share the history and events of an individual, a family or a Nation. They share territorial rights, songs, dances, clans and they are unique to the Indigenous Peoples in which they represent.  Like the Totem Pole, we all have a story.
Through a collection of books by Indigenous authors we will come to understand Indigenous History, Identity, social and economical challenges, but most importantly the resiliency of Indigenous People.

A weekly look at all things photographic. Sept 21 we’ll look at capturing fall colours, Sept 28, what shooting mode should I use? Oct 5 we’ll take a look at depth of field, Oct 19 we’ll explore the world of natural light and how it affects your images, and on Oct 26 we’ll look at the creative use of shutter speed and how it can decide the appearance of photos.

Pharaoh, the very word evokes images and layers of meaning in the mind. Biblical echoes, the gold of King Tut, might and power, pyramids. What did being a king in Egypt mean & how did the kings govern? Part 1 includes the origin of Egyptian kingship to the end of the Middle Kingdom, about 1600 BC.
